By Jony Mozen

Many people work all their lives so that they are able to settle down and retire in a beautiful place where they can enjoy the rest of their lives. Ones such place whether one is retiring or not is Tampa Florida. It is near the Gulf of Mexico and the last survey that was taken in 2011 there were over three hundred and forty six million people living there.

There is so much to do that no matter how long a time one is staying one will never get to enjoy all the attractions. There are eight beaches that one can visit where the water is cool and inviting. If one is a dog lover the Davis Island beach would be perfect. It is a small beach where dogs can be let off their leashes to frolic in the water and sand. It has a picnic area, restrooms as well as a canoe launch and boat ramps.

Ben T. Davis beach has beautiful views of the bay where many go to relax and enjoy the sun. There are shelters so as to keep the sun off those that would prefer as well as grills, picnic places and restrooms. There is also a Concession and to ensure the safety of all swimmers there are lifeguards on duty from Memorial Day through to Labor Day.

The food is really great from traditional fare to international gastro pubs as well as farm to table cuisine and food trucks. There is something for everyone whether one has a spicy liking to a plain tasting. There are restaurants all over and the waiters are all very friendly and will always enquire if the food is to ones liking.

They also have Summer Camps during the warmer seasons with showers and facilities for fishing, swimming and volleyball. There is a camping site for RVs, as well as being able to camp primitive style. Its shoreline spreads over seven miles and many have travelled there to enjoy the outdoors since the middle nineteen sixties.

They have over one hundred and sixty five parks and beaches all within the city limits. Plus there are an additional forty two in the surrounding suburbs. Hillsborough River State Park is very popular where one can go to fish, picnic, camping, canoeing as well as kayaking. There are a large amount of different birds where many love to visit to take pictures. The park has a swimming pool and a restaurant.

Hillsborough is one of the original parks and was created in 1938. The river is known to have a few small rapids. Also in the park is the Fort Foster which was built in the middle eighteen hundreds during the Second Seminole war. Tours are taken to the fort on certain weekends and there are many artefacts on display.

Picnic Island Park has a stunning view of the city and is about seven point eight acres with clean sandy beaches. Many people go there to fish while standing on the pier while others love to explore the Bayou. Shelters can be rented and there are grills, picnic areas as well as a boat ramp and canoe launch. This park allows dogs to run freely and there is a playground for the little ones to have some fun as well.
