Ghost stories are nothing new, with many famous tales found in novels turned into Hollywood blockbusters. One of the most toured areas for ghost sightings in the US is Texas. The state is famous for the San Antonio hauntings, with many people visiting the local sites that are renowned for sightings.

Alamo is by far the most discussed location in the city. Legend has it that shortly after the historical Battle of Alamo, the local residents started seeing reincarnations of the dead. Since then, the stories have kept piling up. Many of the residents regard it as the most haunted location in San Antonio.

The downtown region also has a vibrant history of haunted hotels. If you harbor an active interest in the world of paranormal activities, a few solo nights at any of these establishments should help put your curiosity to rest. Top haunted establishments in this region include the Crockett, St. Anthony, Sheraton Gunter, Menger and Emily Morgan hotels.

Among the popular inns within the city, the Holiday Inn Express holds the reputation of being the most morbid. A hair raising feeling of foreboding creeps in as you make your way to the reception. Before being turned into an accommodation establishment, it used to be the county jail.

Many of its staff and guests have reported lots of weird occurrences. As you rest in your room, you cannot shake off the frightening feeling of being watched. On many occasions, guests have talked about seeing windows and doors open and close with no rational explanation. Odd apparitions have also been captured on CCTV cameras several times.

The Spanish Governors Residence is another historically haunted site. Just staring at the building from the outside gives one the creeps. It has served many purposes since its construction. Besides being used as a military fortification during the Alamo Battle, it housed lots of shops and an execution arena.

Ghosts of young kids are believed to roam its outer sections and hallways. Rumor also has it that the spirit of a murder victim haunts the site. These rumors are a clear indication of the unshakable belief that human beings have in the afterlife. It is up to you to establish the veracity of these chilling tales.

Another interesting place is the San Fernando Cathedral. One cannot fail to notice it when in town. It is the oldest landmark around. The Gothic architecture it embodies only accentuates its eerie nature. Lone worshipers often report being stalked by ghostly figures. This is even frightening to think about.

An urban legend abounds from the local railroad tracks. The tracks cut across Shane Road. The legend talks of ghosts forcing parked cars onto the tracks. Stories of ghostly nuns and childlike apparitions are also predominant.

Finalize your visit with a tour of the derelict Midget Mansion. There is a dark history surrounding this 1920s building. Night screams often get reported by neighbors. Legend has it that it is a rituals site used by Satanists.
