The Different Types And Usefulness Of Industrial Extension Ladders

By Leticia Jensen

We use ladders for the purpose of reaching or taking things from an elevated area. They are basically a tool that is composed of a set of steps that help us reach our goal. They are classified into two and they are the rope and the rigid ladder. The difference of the two is that the former is hung while the latter is leaned on a wall.

Between these two, rigid ladders are the most commonly used especially in industries. Basically, they are made of either wood, metal or plastic and are intended to sustain heavy loads. In industries, there are a lot of activities that needed their function especially during construction that is why they were termed industrial extension ladders.

These ladders are rigid and they are produced to cater different types of work. Just like people, every ability is matched to its appropriate job. The same with this tool. There are those that are intended to bear loads that are as heavy as 300 lbs. There are also those that are good for light bearings.

Each type of ladder corresponds to the heaviness of the load that it has to bear. Also, there are those intended to reach higher heights and suit the kind of work that is carried out. This is also so that hazards will be reduced and make the work easier to finish.

Aside from using the right type, you should also take note of the safety measures. A lot of people meet a disaster while using this tool. The most familiar ones are getting bruised from falling off and obtaining injuries in the head or bone fractures.

Every time, before using it, one has to check is it is still qualified for use. It should be that when you knew it has fallen before, quickly check if the parts are still in place. Also, if it was moved from a dirty or muddy place, clean it first to avoid it slipping off when you are climbing already.

Another thing is, you have to know the right distance of the ladder from the wall. This is really a common mistake because people mind less about it. When you set it in place make sure that its stance is enough to hold your weight. Otherwise, you will fall off the opposite direction. This is why you should really know the basic or primary knowledge in using the tool so that you will be far from hazards.

Another is avoid using them during wet and windy days. You should know that they are vulnerable to strong winds and they easily slip off in wet areas or in the mud. Well, you can if you have control measures in case of these weather conditions.

Extension ladders or others term them portable also come in two types. These types are the straight extension and the stepladder. What makes them different is their base. The first one only has one base while the other one has double. You can chose which makes you more convenient and finish your work safely.
