During spring, it is the most opportune time for one to run the waters. After May a lot of paddlers on canoes will begin dragging bottom. The calm of the river provides an excellent experience for those Scout Troops or Visitors who do not have a lot of experience to paddle.

At certain points the river turns and twists via occasion rapids classified as Class 1 and are studded with sand bars that provide suitable locations for one to picnic under the sunny sky. All the while one is capable of seeing nature at its finest. Not forgetting the clean atmosphere that is therapeutic.

The Harpeth River State park is one of the best places you can go out with friend or family. The same applies if you want a canoeing experience of a life-time. The linear park stretches over 40 miles and connects several archeological, natural and historical sites not forgetting about nine points of access.

The landowner property should be accorded with respect and no one should venture past the areas specifically indicated for one to stop. At the vicinity one should not litter whatsoever. All litter you might carry should be collected back for disposal at another location or place. Serenity of the place has to be maintained.

As one ventures downstream, one will be able to view the tunnels outlet. If you intend to have a perfect swim, this outlet is the best place to have one. As the paddlers proceed on they will arrive at a bridge that contains a sizeable gravel bar.

Among some of the popular activities also done at this place is hiking. There are several trails that lead via the park with their own levels of difficulty. The place is just the right area to be for all those who have a craving for adventure.

Along the way, historical scenery can be witnessed. Paddlers can pass the mill considered historic not forgetting the Franklin Battlefield. They can even halt temporarily before they decide to continue advancing downstream towards the Montgomery Bell Tunnel. And towards the Bell State Park. Where eventually they can camp if they want to as it is allowed at the park.
