Enjoy The Thrill Of A Mud Bogging Truck

By Steven Allen

Guys like to brag about the mud bogs they hit on the weekend, but hearing the stories gets old after a while. The real fun starts when a person gets their own truck. Then they can brag after the weekend is over. It is a blast going through the mud pit in your own decked out truck.

The sport of mudding has been around for many years. It is becoming very popular through out the nation and around the world. There are many different names that can be applied to this activity, mud bogging, mud slingin, or some just simply refer to it as mud hopping. Basically it is when an off road vehicle is driven throogh a mud pit, the person that goes the greatest distance wins.

The best way for a beginner to learn is by watching for a while, it's a great place to start. The best way to learn about a particular mud pits weak points and strong points is to let a few people go through the pit first. Don't be anxious to be the first one.

One of the best ways to learn is to watch the many videos that are online, a lot of knowledge and tactics can be gathered this way. There are some great tactics for success but the real benefit is in learning what not to do in a new activity. There are many examples of racing in action but some are just of the guys on weekend with a video camera.

The bottom line is two things are needed. A good solid truck and some wet mud, the wetter the better. The mud bogs are easy to find, especially in rainy season. If it is just a couple of guys killing time then any mud bog will do. If it's a scheduled event then a place that is set up for spectators might be needed, and it does seem to be a very popular spectator sport.

Just starting out any truck will be fine but eventually upgrades are gonna be needed. The engine is always a good place to start, the more power the better. boosting the suspension will help eliminate the swaying that can lose traction.

The tires are the key to the greatest success of any good mud bogging truck . More aggressive patterns seem to have better traction over tough terrain. Better traction equals more distance and distance is the key to winning events. Also a back and forth motion offers new ground for the tires to grab on to. Try to maintain a good steady forward motion, changing the gears often seems to lose forward momentum.
