The Best Lake Taneycomo Fishing Guides

By Jordan Schmidt

There is nothing as relaxing yet challenging as fishing. All you need is some great gear, a little knowledge, and good lake taneycomo fishing guides. That could be a book, a map, or a person who takes you on a veritable adventure. These savvy aficionados know just where to go to get the best catch.

An enthusiast mostly enters this profession. This is most especially helpful because the sport of fishing does not only begin by catching a fish. A guide must also know where to get the fish at the right time and to clean the freshly caught fish.

If you want to be a guide yourself, you can apply your love and enthusiasm to the enterprise. You have to be a people person who loves the great outdoors. Sure, you need the fishing skills, and maybe some culinary ones as well; but you also need to enjoy teaching others about your favorite pastime.

To begin with the profession, ask those who are in it already. Fish catching is different when you are alone versus doing it with a group of people. Experts also know the best spots to bring the crowd. Also, they will know a few tricks in dealing with people and for critical situations.

Learn first aid. Your priority during fishing now is not just yourself but a whole group of people. More often, because they do not know how to fish yet, the equipment is alien to them and they may cut themselves. More over, some may get seasick because not many people stay in one spot in the middle of the ocean or river waiting for fish. Knowing first aid will strengthen their confidence in you as a guide.

Know your specialty. Know what kind of fish you want to catch. Not all fishes like the same kind of water and not all are caught the same. For beginners, most prefer to catch salmon or trout. You do not want to teach beginners how to fish for tuna for example. Tunas are gigantic and very difficult to catch.

Among the essentials are a first aid kit for emergencies. You also must know water rescue techniques and resuscitation. A demonstration to the attendees should be done at the start of the trip. You also need to understand boat etiquette if you are going out to sea.

Secure the appropriate paperwork for your excursion. Make sure that your guests have signed papers on what to expect from the excursion. These paperwork's can also include clauses on accident coverage, what to do with the fish they caught, their limits as guests and your responsibilities as a guide.

Once the trip is booked and underway, check your existing gear. Quality purchases will stand the test of time. Make recommendations for different experience levels so your guests come equipped with the right rods, hooks, and nets. Let them know what you will provide such as live bait. When all is planned and ready, get the required paperwork submitted for your upcoming location.

Once you get enough people to sign up, hire a boat with a captain. It will be best of you have your own boat as this is one of the major expenses. Remember though that you have to have a captain's license to be able to sail a boat.
