Getting An Affordable Limo Experience

By Martha Valenzuela

When you have a big event coming up, it's crucial to find the limo that can make your time a memorable one. Whether you're looking to entertain friends or family for a night of fun, or you want to impress colleagues with the luxury of quality transportation, here are some ways you can ensure the best limo experience for you and your guests.

Create Your Own Occasion

Try to find an occasion that you can surprise others on with the gift of a limousine, as you may be able to get a better deal if you aren't renting the limousine during prom season or wedding season. Those are the peak times, and it's going to be tough to find anyone willing to cut you a break when they are extremely busy.

Furthermore, consider renting the limo on a weeknight rather than the weekend. For obvious reasons, weekend rentals are far more expensive. And let's be honest here - you can have just as memorable of a time with your friends or family on a Thursday night as you can on a Saturday night.

Calculate Per Capita Price for Service

Try to create a night with some of your friends, as the limousine fee is not per person at most companies. They'll charge you based upon the size of the car, so you want to get as many people in there as possible to bring down the price per person. This can make a night out in a limousine surprisingly affordable.

It's also not uncommon to be offered lower rates for transportation in an older, less luxurious limo. You can often have more or less the same experience at a heavy discount when you choose this option.

Ask for the Total Price

Remember that the hourly rate or nightly rate is not the final price. You may also have to pay for gas, tolls and gratuity for the driver. You'll want to make sure that you can plan accordingly, so ask if the price quoted includes everything. If not, find out what is not in the mix. This will help you to estimate the total price of the rental for the evening so that you can plan accordingly.

It also doesn't hurt to try to negotiate the price. Sometimes, you can get a discount just for asking.
