By Poppy Hill

Scotland is part of the United Kingdom and can be found north of England. The country is mostly famous for whiskey and golf and haggis. As a rich landscape surrounds the countryside don't worry as you are never far from any of the towns or cities as they can easily be reached by car.

In August each year there is a ceremony celebrating the arts in the capital city Edinburgh called the Fringe. Lots of actors head here to get their name known or return to give thanks to the festival for making them famous. During August there is a festival held at the city's castle called the Edinburgh Tattoo which showcases the world's bag pipers and ends with a firework display at the end of August.

The capital has many attractions which include the castle. Here you can enter many rooms which are now fully restored for the public to view and visit. They will take you back to the dark days of the Scottish history and are interesting to read about in the castle's lay out. You may be privy to the Destiny Stone history's and wish to have your photograph taken beside the stone or in other rooms.

What about the city of Stirling and all the history that the it is steeped in which include Bannock Burn and William's lasting impression in Scotland. Head over to Robert Bruce visitor centre which explains all about the history which he played in Scotland.

After visiting the cities you may to consider visiting some of the lochs around the north of Scotland. Perhaps a visit to the scary Loch Ness and wish for the monster to appear before you so you can take that all exclusive photo and start the story telling again. Close to the Loch you will be able to visit the battle of Culloden and Inverness.

Heading to other parts of Scotland could take you to Glasgow which is home to engineering and ship building or over to St Andrew's for a game of golf. No matter what part of Scotland you wish to drive around your hired car will reach any part of the country within a few hours of landing at any one of the Scottish Airports.
