The newspapers and magazines now the web are always full of stories being told by drivers at how bad their car rental bookings were and how they will never book again. Each supplier has their own way of dealing with customer service complaints about overcharging or damage to the vehicle or unsuitable cars.

A few simple rules to avoid the pitfalls will go along way to helping you ease the pain of car hire.

Book your vehicle. Sounds simple and an easy thing to do. Wrong. Often this is the last piece of your holiday which is arranged as renters do not understand all the car hire terms about gas, insurance and other fine print.

This is of automatic cars in Europe and the UK. Most drivers here drive stick or manual cars which are normally plentiful. Automatic vehicles are not popular and are in low demand all year round by the locals. Anyone wishing to book and automatic car will require to book well in advance to insure their booking is successful especially over the summer months.

Travelling during the busy times of the year summer, Christmas and Easter are normally extremely busy and prices soar through the roof as demand is high. Cars are on stop sale which means suppliers run out of vehicles to sell last minute upon arrival at their branch.

Anyone who has not booked a car and waits until the last minute will pay on average about three times the price they would have paid had they secured their rental months earlier. Don't wait until the last minute as you will not be able to collect a car at most of the branches leading up to Christmas or Easter. Pick up an early bird deal.
