Holiday And Kids Free Ways To Keep Them Busy

By Francis Mitchell

Summer holidays are often a drain on finances as well as your health and mind. Where do I take the children on a day out which will keep them amused and not leave me penniless. Questions often asked by parents during the months of July and August.

Taking a short trip in your home town is sometimes more relaxing than spending a week in another city trying to cram as much sight seeing into your time there as you can. Often leaving the grown ups tired and skint.

Have you considered museums as an event for your day trips. People think of museums as boring and often stuffy but they have came along way now trying to engage their public back into them. They are opened each day during normal office hours so you have no excuse if it is raining.

Plan a fortnight's worth of trips for each day by enlisting the help of your young charges. You may be surprised by what they come up with and also the level of interest in museums.

Sometimes when you are planning trips the big days out to the larger well known museums. You will often find that they offer free parking and are sometimes free to enter into the museum only asking people to pay for certain exhibitions which are on show for a few months with them before moving along to a different museum. Smaller museums are more likely to charge for entrance. It is well worth asking if there are discounts available or coupons which you can use for entrance into the touring exhibits.

Visit museums which will occupy your charges. There is nothing worth than making the effort to visit only for them to become bored within 5 minutes of arriving at the place. Look out for the school programmes which run in various locations around town this will surely amuse them for a couple of hours.

Always check your opening hours when you wish to visit any of the places of interest as they may be closed on certain days due to holidays or a set closed day each week. There are other options for you to use as well as free museums perhaps a large parked area on the out skirts of your city or another idea could be a music extravaganza.

Before you head out on your trip why not pack a lunch for everyone to have perhaps sitting under a tree in the shade or down by the beach. Remember and include snacks for the journey and possibly a treat home in the form of an ice cream.
