Parks in New York City: Washington Square Park

Washington Square Park, Manhattan, is located in Manhattan's Greenwich Village and is a fave local park for residents and holiday makers, too. Events in Washington Square Park are countless and some of the most popular include concerts, outdoor theatre, art and various workshops.



Free Summer Concerts

The Washington Square Music Festival 2011 begins in July and will have concerts each Tuesday evening at 8:00 pm. The concert series will run from July through August. Come join us for an experience of soothing classical and jazz music with musical director Lutz Rath. This year, the Washington Square Musical Festival will celebrate 53 years of free concerts and is the second oldest free classical music series in NY. The concerts are played in front of the Holley Statue in the heart of Washington Square. In the event of rain, concerts will be moved to St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Churchin Greeewich Village

NYLaughs ' Laughter in the Park 2011

NyLaughs ' Laughter in the Park is a free comedy series that runs for eleven weeks, beginning August 14, 2011, from 2:00-4:00 pm. Location is at Holley Plaza. Patrons should enter via Washington Square west and walk east.

Mommy/Daddy and Me Photography Workshop

The New York Photo Safari (newyorkcityphotosafari.com) will be building a fun filled photo workshop for kids, Moms and Dads. This workshop will take place on October 2, 2011 from 9:00-11:00 am. Learn the way to enhance your photography skills by photographing the encircling environment and taking family photos. You're sure to have a great time at this special afternoon with your kid or youngsters. Classes are $150. (for one parent and one child) and this price has a professional quality 8X10 of your best photograph. You have to bring your own digicam and, if feasible, it is advisable to bring more than one camera - one for you and one for your child. The Mommy/Daddy and Me is at 5th Avenue and Washington Square North, Manhattan.
